Update:
2013 Benefit Luncheon and Silent Auction to be held July 13th
APPRECIATION DINNER
HELD SATURDAY, JULY 14, 2012
Approximately 200 people attended the Ruby Valley Hospital Foundation “Appreciation Dinner” on Saturday July 14th during a window of superb weather. R Bar B Q, Ray Rowberry owner, provided pulled pork, baked beans and salads to all who came. The Boucher Family, Strings of Fire, entertained the crowd as they dined. The meal was followed by two live auctions and during the afternoon the attendees had the opportunity to purchase the right to be “Sponsor of the Month” for the hospital for the next 12 months. That right includes a framed photograph depicting the event’s theme, “Sharing and Caring.” Auctioneers Dave and Kassie Marsh enticed those dining to bid on some delicious desserts made by area bakers, some amateur and other professional. Carla Marsh’s three-layer butter cream chocolate cake brought the highest price of all the desserts. That auction was followed by the auction of several gifts baskets donated by the various departments at the Ruby Valley Hospital plus the Hospital Auxiliary and the Foundation. During the last auction one of the guests supplied a “Maury Wills” baseball bat which inspiring more bidders to join the action. It was truly a fun afternoon. Margie Reeves, Fundraising Chair
2011 Update
Thanks to the amazing philanthropic character of our community, The Ruby Valley Hospital Foundation has completed another successful year of fundraising on behalf of The Ruby Valley Hospital. Last years fundraising event, “Home Town Hoe Down”, raised in excess of $36,000.
With the addition of private donations and bequests our current assets exceed $300,000.
Soc Hop Success!
The Ruby Valley Hospital Foundation’s Soc Hop was a huge success thanks to the hard work of chairwoman Margie Reeves and the many hard working volunteers who helped make the plan a reality. This was truly a blast from the past, as bobby-soxers twirled in their poodle skirts to the music of the Comstock Lode Band. Elvis was smiling!
Becky DeBoer, Decorating Chairwoman, along with husband Jim and daughter Jennifer, decorated the Virginia City Community Center to replicate the interior of Mel’s Diner. (Those of us of a certain age know this to be a truly hip fifties icon.) Les Reeves, along with a crew of young, beautiful volunteers from the Ruby Valley Hospital, served delicious malts and ice cream sundaes to accompany the hamburgers, salads, and chips that were served for dinner.
Our heartfelt thanks are extended to all the local merchants and artists who donated items for our live and silent auctions. Their generosity speaks volumes about their commitment to this community and to providing quality healthcare to all who visit and live here. The bidding wars were entertaining as well as profitable, thanks to the talents of auctioneer Judge Loren Tucker.
In addition to our live and silent auctions, we held a separate auction of 12 original photographs taken and donated by local photographers. These consisted of beautiful images of local scenes around the Ruby Valley, each representing a “Moment in Nature”. Each photo will represent a month of the year. Much of the labor to matt and frame these photos was donated by Bob and Alice Reimard of Alamo Art and Framing in Sheridan, MT. By purchasing one of the framed photographs, the purchaser was named “Hospital Sponsor of the Month” for the month represented. Each photo will be displayed and the sponsor recognized in the hospital during the respective month. Each sponsor received a reproduction of their photo on a package of note cards for their personal use. The August sponsors are Barbi and Tom Donnelley.
This year’s fundraiser had a specific fundraising goal which was to raise money towards the purchase of ten IV infusion pumps, and a hydrotherapy tub. Thanks to our donors and the overwhelming support from the community, the Ruby Valley Hospital Foundation raised net proceeds in excess of $20,000 towards that goal. The foundation would like to thank all of our donors especially our major donors: Yellowstone Insurance, 3 Rivers Communications, NorthWestern Energy, MTX Ranch, First Madison Valley Bank, and the Hamilton Ranch. And a big thanks to all our photographers who generousley donated their photographs for our "Sponsor of the Month" project for the Ruby Valley Hospital. They are Christine Brown, Steve DiGiovanna, Daniel Downey, Les Gilman, Ben Nardi, Bruce Smith, Diana Smith.
The Ruby Valley Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and the “Soc Hop” organizing committee wish to express their heartfelt gratitude for the tremendous support received from the Ruby Valley community.
