Meet Our New Mayor

Dean
Sheridan's new Mayor, Dean Derryberry

Dean Derryberry, was appointed to the city council in February, is now the new Mayor of Sheridan. “I have been coming to the council meetings for a while now,” said Dean. “I have thought about running for office but I didn’t want to change a good thing.”

Former Mayor, Chris Mumme, had to step down from the position due to his change in work schedule in Helena. Dean, recently filling Julie Ward’s vacant position on the City Council, has stepped up to the position of Mayor. He is very happy with where the council and town have been going and wants to continue what Chris has started. This term will be up in November, but Dean plans to continue as Mayor if the voters approve.

Dean has a background in waste water management and was a district manager for designing water treatment plants. He is also certified in water treatment and has worked on other municipal water distribution systems. He was born and raised in a small Montana town and loves being in Sheridan.

Dean will be having weekly office hours. He can be reached at City Hall every Monday.  “We can get more done if more people participate,” said Dean. “We have a lot of challenges ahead,” said Dean. “Undoubtedly we are going to grow. But we have a great crew of people that are keeping this town running and I am glad to be a part of it.”
