Our New Rotary PresidentKen Kozimer was born 27 March 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio.  Grew up in western suburbs of Cleveland; last suburb before farmland. Ken was an Eagle Scout and attended Marietta college, and graduated with a B.S. in chemistry. From there he went on to attend Woodrow Wilson College of Law, Atlanta, where he obtained a juris doctorate and became a member of Georgia bar assoc. Ken then worked as a tech rep for Union Carbide corp. for 2 yrs. before becoming a U.S. Navy officer pilot for 7 yrs; flew the A-4 Skyhawk. Ken then left to become a pilot with Delta air lines for 27 years and retired in 2003.   

Rotary Montana sponsors Dictionaries for Third Graders dic'tion.ar'y:   A necessary tool in helping 3rd graders in Montana improve their literacy. A simple word and a major project for Montana Rotarians.  With the help of all Montana Rotarians, every 3rd grader in our state will have a dictionary of their very own by this fall. 

The Twin Bridges/Sheridan Club distributed over 70 dictionaries to area third graders including those home schooled. This was so succesful we are doing it again next year!

Rotary International and Gates Foundation team up to help eliminate Polio

This is a historic day for Rotary. It is our great pleasure to inform you of a new partnership between Rotary International and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation that will provide a much needed US$200 million in support of our top goal of a polio-free world. Read the entire story

2008 Twin Bridges - Sheridan Rotary Scholarship Awards

The following graduating students at Twin Bridges and Sheridan High Schools have been awarded  Twin Bridges Rotary Scholarships in the amount 0f $700.00  . Two scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from each high school annually.  One scholarship is for students attending a Montana college in a four year curriculum. The other scholarship is for students attending a college of technology, two year curriculum in any state. 

Twin Bridges High School awardees:

Morgan Marie Nordquist; will attend a Montana college and major in accounting with goal to become a Certified Public Accountant.

Kerri Lynn Mulholland; plans to attend Montana State University at Great Falls College of Technology and study interior design

Sheridan High School awardees:

Ashley Marie Rowberry: plans to attend University of Montana, Montana Tech and major in business.

Aaron Lowell Gilman: plans to attend either University of Montana Helena, College of Technology or North Idaho College in CoeurD’Alene and study communications.The Twin Bridges Rotary is very pleased to present these Scholarship Awards to these deserving graduates and thanks all applicants for their interest in our ongoing scholarship programs.  The club is pleased that it was able to increase the four scholarship awards to $700. each this year.

This Scholarship is given through the generosity of the members of the Rotary Club of Twin Bridges, Montana.  These awards are to be made to graduating seniors of Twin Bridges and Sheridan High Schools who will attend a post-secondary school within the State of Montana, or a Vo-Tech School anywhere within the United States upon enrollment in his or her second term and after completion of the first term curriculum with not less than a 2.0 overall grade point average during the year following the award.

 

Rotary Scholarship Committee plans to award four scholarships each year, two to Twin Bridges High School Graduates and two to Sheridan High School Graduates. One such scholarship for each school is intended for students planning to attend accredited Voc-Tech Schools, as above outlined.  If no applicants are received for a Vo-Tech schools, then two awards will be given for Post-Secondary School applicants.

 

Scholarships will be awarded based on the individual merit of the applicant. In general, eligibility is judged against these criteria:

1. Academic achievement and standing;

2. Probability of success at post secondary or vo-tech study;

3. Service to school and or community;

3. Student financial need.

 

The scholarship committee will rank the applicants based on these criterion. Awards will be made based both on need and merit. Scholarships are awarded at Graduation each spring.  Scholarships are paid to the institution at which you enroll. A letter of award will be provided to your family, you must convey that letter of award to the Registrar.  Interested Applicants should complete the attached Rotary Scholarship Application Form and submit to the Rotary Club Scholarship Committee prior to May 15th.

Did you know that In 1985, Rotary launched the PolioPlus program to protect children worldwide from the cruel and fatal consequences of polio. In 1988, the World Health Assembly challenged the world to eradicate polio. Since that time, Rotary's efforts and those of partner agencies, including the World Health Organization, the United Nations Children's Fund, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and governments around the world, have achieved a 99 percent reduction in the number of polio cases worldwide.
