Amateur Geology  

A site dedicated to Geology - information, resources, jobs, and even a store for the amateur geologist.

 Montana Dinosaur Trail  Our rocks around Sheridan are old enough but generally considered too old and too contorted for fossil remains old dinosaurs. We do have other fossils though (including insects!). However if you have come this far and are headed east you might enjoy following the dinosuar trail. Start at the Musuem of the Rockies in Bozeman.
Environmental Sciences
The University of Montana - Western
Environmental science education for undergraduates. Curriculum emphasizes multi-disciplinary field-based research projects; specializations in applied mathematics, wildlife biology, environmental geochemistry, geology, sustainable natural resource management, wildlands therapy, or wildlands interpretation. Southwest Montana is our lab.

   This is a statewide project. The Lewis and Clark Trail includes the Expedition's outbound route (1805) on the Missouri River drainage, over the Continental Divide to the Bitterroot Valley, and across Lolo Pass to Idaho. The return trip (1806) includes the Clark Fork, Blackfoot, Marias, Missouri, Gallatin, and Yellowstone rivers and overland passages.

USGS  This site is designed to help you learn about earth science studies underway in Montana.
The Geological Society of America The mission of GSA is to be a leader in advancing the geosciences, enhancing the professional growth of its members, and promoting the geosciences in the service of humankind 
International Commission on Stratigraphy The International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS) is the largest scientific body within the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS).
It is also the only organisation concerned with stratigraphy on a global scale.
