Thank you. 2010 July 28th, 2010 The Beaverhead Outdoor Association (BOA) and Keep It Rural: Southwest Montana (KIR) invite residents to a public meeting regarding the potential local impacts of Northwestern Energy’s (NYSE: NWE) proposed Mountain States Transmission Intertie (MSTI) line. The event features representatives from the Montana State Public Service Commissioner (PSC), NorthWestern Energy, BLM Dillon Field Office and the Jefferson County Commissioners. The event will be held on Thursday, August 5, at 6:00 p.m., in the Great Room at the University of Montana Western’s Swysgood Technology Center. MSTI is a proposal by NWE to build a 500kV transmission line on 140-foot towers (approximately 4-to-6 a mile) from Townsend south through Dillon via several proposed routes. Based on the draft EIS from Montana DEQ, the line would run near Notch Bottom across the Big Hole River, across the Beaverhead Valley through the Frying Pan area and on to the west side of the Beaverhead Canyon. The line will cross at Dalys Spur and continue on the east side of the canyon to the Buffalo Lodge. From there, the line follows the Red Rock Valley over Monida Pass and into Idaho. The sponsoring groups represent a diverse and bipartisan coalition of citizens deeply concerned about the MSTI project as proposed. The Beaverhead Outdoor Association was founded in 1996 and serves the interests of outdoor enthusiasts. The purpose of the BOA is to protect and insure the continued high quality outdoor recreational opportunities we now enjoy on public and private lands in Southwest Montana and promote true sportsman like conduct from all persons using these lands. Founded in June 2010, Keep It Rural is a bipartisan organization devoted to keeping Montana residents informed and engaged in issues, such as the proposed MSTI line, which threaten Montana’s rural landscape, agricultural heritage, wildlife corridors, land owner rights and local economy. Information about the proposed MSTI line can be found at www.keepitrural.net, or on Facebook at Keep It Rural: Southwestern Montana.

Thanks April 28th Dear Runners, Supporters, Madison Marathon Volunteers, and Everyone else worthy of this message: The Madison Marathon Website has been launched. Please check it out: Personally, I think it is wonderful. The design credit goes to I Spy Design which is a company owned and operated by Brian Farrell of Bozeman. It is only fitting that the Highest Road Marathon in America also has the Best Marathon Website in America. The fact that the site even exists is because of the Kickstarter backers. Thank you all very, very much. You are now part of something truly wonderful. Please take a few minutes and go through the site and send us your suggestions and comments. We want to make this website even better. For those of you who ran in the inaugural and 2nd annual race, please consider posting something on the ‘My Madison Marathon’ section of the site. We want that section to be very dynamic and interesting. Send your stories and photos to me and I’ll get them posted. Finally a message to alumni runners: I’m getting lots of interest in the race even though it is still three months away. Literally today, I received a phone call from Illinois and an email from www.runnningintheusa.com about running in the race. The word is out and this website will make word of mouth advertising even faster and better. If you intend to run under the alumni deal, you should sign up sooner rather than later or risk getting shut out. Thank you everyone. I look forward to hearing your comments on this site. Stay healthy, happy, and keep running forward. Sam Corsmoe , April 27th FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Area Community Action Agency Offers Grant Proposal Writing Seminar MADISON COUNTY, MONTANA — Human Resources Council District XII (HRC) is offering two organizational development seminars, focusing on strategic planning and grant proposal writing on May 12th and 13th in Sheridan and June 3rd and 4th in Ennis. The seminars, which will be presented by Janet Cornish of CDS of Montana, will be held at the Philanthropy River Building in Sheridan and the First Madison Valley Bank in Ennis. Working in partnership with other local providers, HRC spends its federal CSBG dollars in local communities to meet the needs of the l Seminar participants will not only learn the basics of grant writing, but they will have the opportunity to explore implementation strategies for identified projects and programs. Every two years, HRC conducts ?Dialogues on Poverty? in each of the counties it serves, which help identify local issues and priorities, as well as potential solutions. As part of its mission to build capacity, HRC is sponsoring this seminar to enhance the organizational and proposal writing skills of those who attend, which will, in turn help foster successful programs at the local level.
