  • 08/26/2008 The Flavor Restaurant (Formerly The Mill Creek Inn) is closed. Watch for a new opening sometime in the near future (September).
  • 08/25/2008 The MSIT 2nd annual Wine Festival and auction is getting ready. This year in addition to great wines and auction items to benefit the Main Street - the "Fish out of Water" artists series will be unveiled! Stop by next week to see for yourself at the corner of Hamilton and Main! In addition, the first annual Gravelly Marathon will be this Sunday August 31st. For more info click here.

  • 08/11/2008 The Main Street Improvement has received official word from the IRS that we have been approved as a tax exempt organization!  Their current status is a 509(a)2  [Advance Ruling 501(C)3].  More on MSIT 
  • 08/04/2008 The Madison District Ranger guide information is now on line! You can access all of the information about hiking, camping, back packing and campgrounds by visiting the Visitor Recreation Guide page.  
  • 08/01/2008 Fishing in the Ruby Valley and surrounding Blue Ribbon Streams (Big Hole, Beaverhead, Madixon rivers). But we must protect our resources. Invasive species can easily be prevented from entering our waters if everyone would just follow a few basic procedures. Fishing 
  • 07/31/2008 New photographs were added to the General Phil section of the web site (Vistors> Who is Sheridan) as he had such an influence on the area (especially in Yellowstone National Park), we added a new roadside marker photograph under the visitor information > History concerning a reference to the Shoshoni's and on the Rotary site, as they are the ones who put it there. Finally we are looking for some good photos of the Twin Bridges rodeo, so if you have one send it to us as we had to use one taken at the nearby Livingstone Rodeo for the time being...

  • 07/25/2008 Need something different to do? Check out the Geology of the area. In addition to some of the oldest rocks of the North American Craton, rock hounding and incredible structural formations, the Ruby Valley and surrounding area has plenty of fossils. Most of these are recent (Pleistocene) mammals, but we have insects,plants and even dinosaurs!  Go to field trips for more information 
  • 07/23/2008 A rare hailstorm pummeled downtown Sheridan last night. While most of the storm was confined to a narrow band - it appears to have gone through the main downtown corridor as it passed from the Ruby River towards the Tobacco Roots. Quarter sized hail damaged a number of windows at the local high school as well as houses with vinyl siding. The accompanying down pour filled irrigation ditches and caused them to overflow. No reported injuries were made. And this morning the sun was out and it was another beautiful day.
  • 07/21/2008 The Ruby Valley Hospital Foundation will host a "Dinner on the River" on July 27, 2008 at the Woodson Ranch. This is both a Staff Appreciation Event and Fundraiser. Start time is 1:30. Live music by The Silver Bow String Quartet and The Dillon Fiddlers. Catered dinner prepared by the InBack Restaurant Alder. Cash bar provide by the Elks Lodge.  Price per Ticket $30.00.  Call the Hospital at 842-5453

  • 07/08/2008 Main Street Improvement Team sponsors a Parking lot sale to be benefit - you guessed it - Main Street! Friday 2 - 5 pm and Saturday 10:00 -2:00. Sale to be held at the Main Street parking lot in front of Booze and buns.

I strongly believe that more people need to be exposed to geology – especially to raise the interest in the geological sciences among High School students so they know something about geology before they get to college!   • 05/20/2008  Unfortunately there will be no Sheridan Summer Festival this year. We hope you will come back next year or enjoy Alder's festival July 18th, 19th and 20th. Cry
  • 05/16/2008 Graduating students at Twin Bridges and Sheridan High Schools have been awarded  Twin Bridges Rotary Scholarships in the amount of $700.00  . Two scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from each high school annually.  One scholarship is for students attending a Montana college in a four year curriculum. The other scholarship is for students attending a college of technology, two year curriculum in any state.   Read more
  • 05/15/2008 WiFi Radios receive an upgrade. We recognize how important it is to provide the free WiFi in town. The Philanthropy River Building has now upgraded the radios in town with two new radios. The radios are from ValuePoint™ Networks 802.11b compliant SuperAP 500DR is designed for distributed Wi-Fi deployment in hotels, apartment buildings, outdoor, or industrial applications. It is an extremely Rugged Access Point, with two (2) Radios with up to 285 mWatt transmit output each and industry standard Power over Ethernet. Thanks to Computer Geeks for installing and providing the service for these!
  • 05/07/2008 Charity Fector our new County Planner as a guest speaker on the April 21st as part of Rotary Internationals guest night at the Blue Anchor in Twin Bridges (6:30) ....she is not only very well informed and experienced but has a delightful since of humor as well.  She will be speaking on the current and potential development within the county.

  • 04/08/2008  The Ruby Watershed Council (RWC) has invited Kevin Smith, the Water Projects Bureau Chief of the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC), to present at their monthly meeting on Wednesday April 16th, 2008.  The meeting will begin at 4:00 pm, and will be held in the community room of the Philanthropy River Building located at the northwest corner of Main and Hamilton streets in Sheridan, MT.  Please check the community calendar for more info.
  • 04/04/2008  The Annual Health Fair sponsored by the Ruby Valley Hospital is being held to include reduced fees for testing services (blood draws) and an opportunity to visit with your health care providers and vendors. April 12th at the Sheridan Elementary School 10 - 2.  
  • 04/02/2008  Bill Yellowtail to speak at Rotary Guest Night April 23rd 6:30 at the Blue Anchor in Twin Bridges. All are welcome. (Please call ahead for dinner reservations if you plan on eating 406-684-5655). William Yellowtail, a Crow Indian who was once was the regional director of the Environmental Protection Agency, will occupies the Montana State University Katz Endowed Chair in Native American Studies.
  • 03/26/2008  Geology science built on the foundations of other sciences Have you ever wondered what to do with math, biology, physics or chemistry?  How these sciences can be used in the real world?  You don't have to look very far.  These sciences are only theoretical so far as you keep them that way.  All of these sciences have practical applications when applied to the environment that surrounds you- and the world of geology provides an ideal venue for this.   • 03/20/2008 The Ruby Valley inspires many artists. Not only to paint, sketch and photograph the incredible scenery, but to live and work in the valley. Long time resident Ed Wrzesinski has added some of his work to our artist gallery. Check them all out by going to the Artist Gallery.
  • 03/18/2008 Lots of updates. The Greater Ruby Valley Chamber of Commerce and agriculture announces a small business Expo for Saturday, May 10. A seminar providing continuing education training essentials of 1031 exchanges is being held March 26 at the Philanthropy River Building.  For more information on these visit the community calendar.

  • 03/06/2008 Sheridan is a magnet for fly fishing. There are a lot of first class fly fishing lodges and guides in the area as well as premium manufacturers of fly rods in the Ruby Valley - and plenty of blue ribbon waters. For more information
