08/26/2008 The Flavor Restaurant (Formerly The Mill Creek Inn) is closed. Watch for a new opening sometime in the near future (September).

08/25/2008 The MSIT 2nd annual Wine Festival and auction is getting ready. This year in addition to great wines and auction items to benefit the Main Street - the "Fish out of Water" artists series will be unveiled! Stop by next week to see for yourself at the corner of Hamilton and Main! In addition, the first annual Gravelly Marathon will be this Sunday August 31st. For more info click here.

07/31/2008 New photographs were added to the General Phil section of the web site (Vistors> Who is Sheridan) as he had such an influence on the area (especially in Yellowstone National Park), we added a new roadside marker photograph under the visitor information > History concerning a reference to the Shoshoni's and on the Rotary site, as they are the ones who put it there. Finally we are looking for some good photos of the Twin Bridges rodeo, so if you have one send it to us as we had to use one taken at the nearby Livingstone Rodeo for the time being...

07/25/2008 Need something different to do? Check out the Geology of the area. In addition to some of the oldest rocks of the North American Craton, rock hounding and incredible structural formations, the Ruby Valley and surrounding area has plenty of fossils. Most of these are recent (Pleistocene) mammals, but we have insects,plants and even dinosaurs! Go to field trips for more information

07/23/2008 A rare hailstorm pummeled downtown Sheridan last night. While most of the storm was confined to a narrow band - it appears to have gone through the main downtown corridor as it passed from the Ruby River towards the Tobacco Roots. Quarter sized hail damaged a number of windows at the local high school as well as houses with vinyl siding. The accompanying down pour filled irrigation ditches and caused them to overflow. No reported injuries were made. And this morning the sun was out and it was another beautiful day.

07/21/2008 The Ruby Valley Hospital Foundation will host a "Dinner on the River" on July 27, 2008 at the Woodson Ranch. This is both a Staff Appreciation Event and Fundraiser. Start time is 1:30. Live music by The Silver Bow String Quartet and The Dillon Fiddlers. Catered dinner prepared by the InBack Restaurant Alder. Cash bar provide by the Elks Lodge. Price per Ticket $30.00. 05/16/2008 Graduating students at Twin Bridges and Sheridan High Schools have been awarded Twin Bridges Rotary Scholarships in the amount of $700.00 . Two scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors from each high school annually. One scholarship is for students attending a Montana college in a four year curriculum. The other scholarship is for students attending a college of technology, two year curriculum in any state. Read more

05/15/2008 WiFi Radios receive an upgrade. We recognize how important it is to provide the free WiFi in town. The Philanthropy River Building has now upgraded the radios in town with two new radios. The radios are from ValuePoint™ Networks 802.11b compliant SuperAP 500DR is designed for distributed Wi-Fi deployment in hotels, apartment buildings, outdoor, or industrial applications. It is an extremely Rugged Access Point, with two (2) Radios with up to 285 mWatt transmit output each and industry standard Power over Ethernet. Thanks to Computer Geeks for installing and providing the service for these!

04/08/2008 The Ruby Watershed Council (RWC) has invited Kevin Smith, the Water Projects Bureau Chief of the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC), to present at their monthly meeting on Wednesday April 16th, 2008. The meeting will begin at 4:00 pm, and will be held in the community room of the Philanthropy River Building located at the northwest corner of Main and Hamilton streets in Sheridan, MT. 10/30/2007 Rob Thomas of UM Western in Dillon receives the Geological Society of America’s Distinguished Service Award Rob is very active in the community and is helping put Geology in Southwest Montana on the map. Read the article here. He and Sheila Roberts help bring in half a dozen universities each year at the Birch Creek Center for their annual field camps. It's a great exposure for the region for all of us.

8/04/2007 Geology field trips in the area - Study all you want to. But until you get out in the field, the classroom or textbook is paper and pictures. If you want to understand structural geology, only seeing what geological forces did to change what was once a massive series of horizontally deposited material into anticlines, synclines and faults will do. Bending them over and tilting them upwards they form large structural forms best observed from the field.

7/17/07 Town of Sheridan Informational Meeting with the Mayor Sunday, July 22, 2007 at 6:00 p.m.-Sheridan Town Hall In order to put to rest a significant amount of misinformation that has been circling around Sheridan about our current water situation and to answer questions from the public there will be an informational meeting at town hall Sunday July 22 at 6 pm. The mayor will be on hand to answer questions about water usage, shortage and our up coming water project.

Register for the Tobacco Root Geological Society Annual Meeting with field trips Dillon Montana The 32nd Annual Field Conference of the Tobacco Root Geological Society will be held Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon, August 2-5, 2007 at the Birch Creek Center, northwest of Dillon, Montana. The Birch Creek Center is nestled in the East Pioneer Mountains, close to some of the classic examples of geologic structure that brings student and professional geologists to southwest Montana every field season. He will meet us at 9:00 a.m. and then will spend the morning touring Sheridan, discussing our goals, projects, plans, etc. and how the State Main Street Program can help us. I am hoping that as many of you that can will join us. Even if you can only spend an hour or two, it would be very beneficial and would show him that we are sincere in our efforts.
This program will allow Sheridan almost the full benefits of the original program. Mr. Walters' office will provide us with support, technical and professional advice, the training needed, all kinds of resource materials, consultations and visits, and funds permitting Registration Scholarships to the Annual National Main Street Conference. > April 6th - Rotary Scholarship applications are now being taken. This Scholarship is given through the generosity of the members of the Rotary Club of Twin Bridges, Montana. These awards are to be made to graduating seniors of Twin Bridges and Sheridan High Schools who will attend a post-secondary school within the State of Montana, or a Vo-Tech School anywhere within the United States upon enrollment in his or her second term and after completion of the first term curriculum with not less than a 2.0 overall grade point average during the year following the award. Interested Applicants should complete the attached Rotary Scholarship Application Form and submit to the Rotary Club Scholarship Committee prior to May 15th.

> March 1st - Friends of Sheridan Public Library raise $1500! The results of the fund raiser - made about $1,500.00 from a combination of the donated silent auction items, a cake auction and donations made during the Dessert Social. The Friends of the Sheridan Public Library is a non-profit 501 c 3. Donations can still be made by contacting the library.
